I. People Excellence
Promote people excellence by providing skills assessment, career planning and personal improvement plans. Value learning in all employees and support individual and team growth through training plans, individual and team goals, and praise and reward systems. Demonstrate commitment to our employees with every action.
II. Pride in NHA
Speak with pride about the Navajo Housing Authority when dealing with the general public, tribal offices and governmental affiliations, and fellow employees. Uphold the 8 Guiding Principles as a normal part of doing business. Respect NHA facilities and property. Demonstrate pride in the services offered by the Navajo Housing Authority.
III. Provide Quality Satisfaction and Timely Customer Service
Improve customer satisfaction in housing delivery by streamlining services with Navajo Nation housing programs, improving customer service and providing total quality homes. The Navajo Housing Authority will concentrate on approachability and quality assistance in customer relations.
IV. Promote Opportunities for Resident Self-Sufficiency
Provide incentives and goals for families residing in low-income housing by encouraging the development of resident organizations and on-the-job training programs. The Navajo Nation will establish partnerships with non-profit organizations and other tribal agencies to develop a manufacturing plant to employ residents and low-income tenants.
V. Operate One-Stop Housing Service Centers
Reduce the number of housing management activities performed at the central location by 60% by providing a one-stop service center in the field for residents and potential homebuyers. Many of the program approval and planning functions, including financial management, will be delegated to the field management offices on the Navajo Nation.
VI. Improve Housing and Community Environment
Provide education and training through the Homebuyer Education Program to families on the maintenance of their homes and improve housing areas through achieving equity through homeownership. The goal of the Navajo Nation staff is to support tenant and residents in improving the appearance and enhancing the value of their homes, including drug prevention and crime prevention programs.
VII. Seek Alternative Funds
Seek ways to become a self-contained full service housing mechanism through home ownership training models, mortgage lending capacity, loan servicing and partnering with other agencies. The reality of reduced federal funding forces the Navajo Housing Authority to review ways in which funding from public and private financing may be utilized for housing development.
VIII. Fulfill TDHE Administrative Capacity and Leadership
Construct new homes on the Navajo Nation. Coordinate planning and integrate housing development resources among housing providers to maximize benefits of NAHASDA funds.
IX. Promote Economic Growth
Contribute to the Navajo Nation economy base through the development and renovation activities by employing Navajo construction workforce and extending contracts, subcontracts and purchase to Navajo-owned businesses, with the overall long-range goal to turn over the NAHASDA funds at least ten (10) times on the Navajo Nation.
